Ranma's Furry Friend: Protective kitten [Episode 95610]

by Kestral

Little five year old Ranma had saved this little kitty from a trashcan, had given it food and attention and affection, and something curious had occurred.

No, not that Genma approved. He just desired more than ever to collect that pit of cats then teach Ranma the dreaded Catfist.

No, the curious thing was how the little newborn kitten had responded. Which had been to purr and snuggle and ride around in Ranma's shirt with her head peeking out, feeling his heartbeat and content with her pet human.

Genma finished the pit, finished starving the cats, then beckoned Ranma close with tales of a new training technique.

Ranma knew it was another weird technique, after all - what could you learn if you were all tied up like this and had fish sausages hanging onto you.

Genma noticed the little black head poking out of Ranma's shirt as it reached for a sausage and plucked the little creature out. Only a few weeks old, he had no hope for it to contribute but what the heck.

"HEY!" Ranma yelled as his pet was thrown over his father's shoulder into a pit.

Genma lifted his son. "Go, son. It's for the sake of the Art. Go forth and learn the catfist!" At which point he threw his tied up son after the kitten.

Shrieks, yowls, screams - Genma sighed happily. The sound of martial arts training. Hopefully his son would learn it on the first try.

In a more typical world, Ranma would forget about the pet - which had died anyway during the training. Its spirit, caught in fear and betrayal, would become part of Ranma and manifest as the catfist but only after his mind snapped during further training exercises.

Instead, Bastet manifested a tiny thread of energy and merged something with the kitten before it could die.

The kitten stared at its human as the other cats clawed and ripped and tore at him.

ROARRRRRRRRRRR!

Genma stopped and blinked. Meow, hiss, scream - all to be expected. Had he imagined it? Yes, that was certainly it.

ROARRRRRRRRRR!

Genma blinked. What the heck was that, anyway? He slowly and carefully made his way to the edge of the pit.

There was a young girl, perhaps three years old, glowing purple?! Her tail lashing about behind her, fangs bared, claws out, ears flat against her skull, looking like...

Genma's eyes nearly popped out as he noticed all the kitties cringing against the far side of the pit - not even noticing how crushed together they were in their desire to get away from the pint sized incarnation of fury standing in between them and his son.

Genma paused to consider that manifestation.
