Rifted Ranma: Red Burster [Episode 97619]

by Kestral

Akane let out a deep breath, concentrating as she did.

A small bit of flame briefly appeared between her hands and she dropped back, exhausted by the effort.

It had been a very intense week of training and their ship was about to dock with another ship - the Yellow Rose and transfer her to it. There she could train with another Burster, and gain better control over her newfound abilities.

It meant leaving Yuka and Sayuri and the others - but Yuka had pointed out that if one of them found a way home they could send word around to the others as long as they had an idea of the ship's name and general area.

Bursters were psychics with control over flame. Pyrokinetic was another term for their abilities. A fully trained Burster could throw plasma bolts or light fires with a thought, or extinguish flames in her immediate vicinity.

Yuka had a cybernetic arm - and Sayuri had shown her artistic side by engraving images of flowers around the main panel. Ranma was dead (the dragon insisted otherwise but Akane knew better.) She herself was gaining psychic powers.

Ukyo, who had retreated into some private shell after being stunned when that flame blast had destroyed Ranma's apparent hiding place, had already left - not wanting even that much reminder. She was supposedly on some ship called the Southern Cross and heading towards the South American islands.

Ryoga kept showing up and P-chan kept disappearing. Akane had no idea how Ryoga managed it. Leaving would also get P-chan away from that dragon, who seemed to have some issue with both P-chan and Ryoga.

Nabiki was gone as well. She'd gone walking off into New Hope's marketplace and gotten a job operating a gambling table.

Yuka and Sayuri would remain on the Trader Vic with some of the others. They'd been together since kindergarten so the two remaining together wasn't that hard to believe.

Akane wondered how much they'd all end up changing by the time they got home.

Ranma walked past the various people on the ship, towel over one shoulder as he prepared to shower down after a long workout.

It had been difficult getting used to his new talents.

The silvery metal parts were stronger and tougher, but normally he'd wear armor because even if it was an artificial arm - getting shot HURT. Besides, he didn't want to lose more parts of himself.

What he could do was extend part of his arm into access ports and gain even better control over the powerarmor or robot he was operating. After some experimenting with what the Tuatha De Danaan had available - Ranma had chosen a robot that had a sort of Japanese mecha feel to it and was pretty darn fast.

After going through everything that he had, Ranma was darker and more sullen than previously. Quiet. Part of this were gaps in his memory from the damage done to his head with electroshock and chemicals. Though the areas had been repaired, the information had been lost. He had a clinical detachment to those remaining memories of Nerima and his journey with his father.

Still he was Ranma. He was at his best in combat and pulling off high speed manuevers. He enjoyed food and spent the lion's share of each day training himself and trying to push his boundaries all the fuller.

Even his "mech" (as he referred to his machine) was chosen because the design would let him use at least some of his martial arts. Which is why he had chosen a:
