Unforuntately, she didn't think that this would be so easy. "Well... they're humanoid."
"They aren't silver and red, are they?" Misato asked optimistically.
"No... There's only one that I can see clearly. It's pretty much... purple? And it has this fin on its head, almost like a horn..."
"Can I see?"
"Sure," the secret agent replied, and handed over the binoculars.
"Thanks.... Now let's see..," the pilot said, and then froze in place. "Unit 01..."
Asuka started snarling in German but what she said did not need to be translated.
At the same time, Rei took the viewing device from Misato as the elder woman began to show that she had learned her slang from people really knew what they were saying.
Upon seeing both the redhead and the fighter pilot pale and start to curse, Kiyone felt her stomach drop. "What is it?"
Rei pulled the binoculars back from her eyes and gave a steady look at the former Galaxy Police detective as she spoke so that Ranma couldn't hear. "May I assume that you had not been born in this universe until a little before you came to Ranma's house?"
"Uh... If you mean that I was sent here from another one," the elder woman replied in similar tones, "yeah... but what does that have to do with anything?"
"We were as well," the yuki-onna told her, and explained just what an Evangelion was, and the significance of such.
When she finished, Kiyone began cursing in a language that had been created for the expressed purpose of such.
Nabiki was a smart girl who knew how to use situations to her advantage. Even if the most odd of things happened, she could find a way for her to get something out of it.
She just never expected to be sliding down a ventilation shaft as a ferret, but when she had felt a breeze, she had known that it was a chance to get away.
But it also had a side effect.
It allowed her to find out that winged monkeys couldn't fit easily in such tight spaces, but could get stuck in the tight confines.
Her only fear was that Saotome wasn't having as much luck as she was...
"Okay," Ranma commented, once an 'edited' explination was given to him. "Now these legendary 'Eve-angel-ions'..."
"'Evangelions'," Misato corrected.
"Whatever. But these things, can cause the end of the world?"
"Pretty much. Yeah."
"That's not good."
"That's an understatement," Asuka growled.
"It is odd though..," Rei commented, "Something is different..."
"How so?"
"The designs that I remember aren't the ones that are out there. These are... darker, more... streamlined. They lack the varied color of the ones that we are familiar with."
"Hold on a sec. You're telling us that those aren't the ones we know... of?"
The pale girl nodded. "Take the head of... the blue one. Instead of a boxy shape, this one has an almost... helmet like one."
"That is odd," Misato commented, "But what does that mean..."
"Maybe they're fakes?" Kiyone suggested.
"Huh?"
"Somebody could have heard about them and tried to make copies, to trick people. Or they could be trying to recreate them for whatever reason. And there is always the chance that they only look like Evangelions."
"I sure hope so..."
"That only leaves one tiny problem," the redhead drawled.
"What's that?"
"What do we do with them? I mean, I was kind of hoping never to see one..."
"Well," the secret agent murmured, "There's only one choice that I can see. We'll have to:
