Keeping three giant robots secret was apparently not something easily done. With military helicopters flitting around, they had to turn away from the site and return to their original flight plan.
It was a somber group that flew on towards the air base. Hardly anyone was left untouched by it.
Rei was apparently absorbed in her current reading material.
"The 'Big O'?" asked Misato. "WHAT?!"
"It's about a giant robot used in a manner similar to the Eva series in that massive property damage occurs," stated Rei quietly. "I find myself identifying in a curious manner with the girlfriend of the main character."
"Why that particular series?" asked Misato, still uncertain if this was some sort of hentai series based on the title.
"It involved mecha, and had a not completely human female lead," answered Rei. "I am still attempting to research male-female interaction within the roles of fiance to fiancee."
"Ah," said Asuka, curious now. "Learn anything useful?"
"You're a louse, Ranma Saotome," said Rei.
"HUH?" Ranma asked, wondering what that meant.
"Apparently I have to work on my musical skills as it is expected of female lead characters to have skills outside the narrow range of combat specialists." Rei returned to her reading.
"Ooooh-kay," commented Asuka. Maybe she should look into that too?
The ferret ran as fast as it could.
Which was pretty darn fast for something with small legs and a long body.
The thing was that this was a good form for evasion and sneakery. Much better than the form of a winged monkey boy in a shriner's outfit that kept trying to chase her.
"Ook!"
Nabiki dodged past the minion. Easy!
"Ook!" Nabiki zipped past this one as she realized they were making more of them! As she slipped into a storm drain, the vision of hundreds of flying winged monkeys wearing fez hats and vests swarming out of the abandoned zoo on sinister missions came to mind. How horrible! Why it gave her a feeling of deja vu was something to ponder another time.
