EvaCosplay(Genie): Early arrival of Freewill [Episode 99066]
by Alex Warlorn
It was raining. It wasn't supposed to be raining. The forecaster had been quite clear on that. But it was raining anyway.
He was here. He wasn't supposed to be here. The dead-sea scrolls had been quite precise about his time of appearance. But he was here all the same.
Kaoru Nagisa. The Fifth Child, aka: Tabris: the 17th messenger and the Angel of Freewill.
It had taken minimal effort to come here ahead of schedule: truth was if he wanted he could have walked out of SEELE's little holding place for him. But for now he needed the only humans who knew what he really was to still believe he was nothing but their pawn in their game of chess with Ikari. It would be a disaster if his secret came out into the open. For now, SEELE was blissfully unaware of his intentions. After all, as he had managed to convince them, who would expect the final angel to appear out of sync with the rest, just -socializing- instead of attacking, making it easier for him to strike when his turn came. Or that was what he had told them.
Truth was, recent meddling by one out of date mage had knocked SEELE and NERV's course of events out of wack. And when your enemy's plans were thrown off course, you had to readjust your own. But of course, as the angel of freewill, he had far more important things to concern with, like the fate of three souls.
At least the train ride from the airport had given him a nice view.
As heaven continued to pour buckets onto the city of Tokyo-3, Kaoru walked unopposed into its borders without the welcoming committee his brothers and sisters had received. NERV was too focused on the forth child Toji Suzuhara and his Eva-03 which was about to be completed and shipped to Japan, to be concerned about another pilot whose Eva wasn't even under construction yet. So the fourteen year old boy was free to move about the city streets. The fact he wasn't in the shape of a building sized tool of destruction might have had something to do with it too.
On the other side of the city in a store that bad been an empty lot a couple months back, the owner was closing up for the night: almost amused at having a customer walk out without being turned into a busty female. A bell rang signaling a new victim, er, customer had entered the place of business.
The old man gave his automatic smile looking up from the count down sheet. "Hello, -YOU-!"
The person who had just stepped in looked into the old man's soul. "I suggest you change locations –very- soon. Might I suggest somewhere on the other side of the planet?"
"CanIinterestyouin-"
"No."
"Another of those flashes of an AT field?" Ritsuko asked.
"Yes mam. It was there one moment, and gone the next. It wasn't even in the same place as before."
"That's it. I'm going through the Magi's system, this could be a computer bug."
Kaoru casually glared to see a fiery column of smoke rising from buildings several blocks away, right where . . .
"Hello little brother."
Kaoru started, it could, not, be, her! None of the other messengers sent to prevent Third Impact had taken on the form of the lilithlings! Turning, he saw her, long white hair, same pigment less eyes as him, a couple inches shorter. A brand less brown jacket protected a practical white dress with unassuming footwear. Though the one before him was clothed behind a human form and his own senses limited by a flesh and blood vessel, Tabris knew his own siblings.
"What are you doing here Arael? It's not your time to face them yet." He looked at the distant fire again. "Never mind."
"That dime-store mage should have known better then to keep his spot of cursed items in one place as long as he did. Now he's paid the price for it."
"You took on a human guise, risked being detected by NERV, 'stepped out of the waiting line' so to speak, just to make sure one old magic-user didn't screw with events more then he already had?"
"Had to be done. Events are going to spin out of control fast and without warning. That –lecher- is a wild card that we can no longer afford to have in the deck. But that was only a secondary part of my mission here. 'They' sent me to ask you that same question. What do you think you're doing?"
"I'm here on –official- business as angel of freewill. The freewill of three beings has been, for lack of better words in this language, retrofitted. I am here to do what I can."
"In other words you were overcome with a wave of sympathy and couldn't help yourself –not- to come for their sakes and risk meddling in the course of events even more."
"Do I tell you how to smite sinners? Lion of God?"
Instead of answering, Areal looked at the passing storm clouds knowing. "Baradiel is already on his way to claim the newest shadow of Adam as his weapon to reclaim him. He'll be ready when it's his turn."
Kaoru sighed. "You should consider taking a human form more often sister, having a close up look at things rather then a far away one can give you a new perspective on the plan. Of course, you can't really appreciate it unless you enter this universe the old fashioned way instead of just-"
The 'Lion of God' glared at the Angel of Freewill. Does he even still think of himself as Tabris? Arael wondered.
"I'm curious, Lilith's soul aside, what makes these three so special?"
"Dijinn are spirits. They're immortal. Shinji may be a kind master to them, but what about the next? And the one after that. And what about the possible hundred of years between masters when they'll be confined to their –containers?- Plus, a Dijinn's mentality replacing a human's, they're only vaguely aware of how much it's effected them, for now, Aksuka, Rei, and Misato still exist, eventually this will not be the case, and that'll only leave Ruby, Sapphire, and Amethyst. Already 'Ruby's' vanity, dislikes the idea of being human again. "
Humans. No other being in creation has the power you have. You can alter fate. To lose that power, is to no longer be human.
"I thought you'd almost be happy to have things going differently this time, or do you want to lose your head again?"
"If Shinji can find a way, this time around, to prevent Instrumentality that doesn't involve the extinction of the lilithlings then good for us all."
"Remember brother, we're watching you." Areal warned. Tabris turned to look at her but she was already gone back to where she had come from.
