The eagle looked down its beak at the other 'bird'. "How do you know that?"
"Simple gossip. Apparently from what I hear is that they are apparently not dressed as one would expect them to be for their races. Or at least the races that can be identified totally at the moment."
"They're too far to tell, aren't they?"
"Pretty much," admitted the robin, "But they should be close enough to see pretty soon."
"Of course, it would be rather... disturbing to them if a dragon or two passed them by..," the owl drawled.
"I would say so..."
"Lucky for us that we can polymorph..," the eagle commented, "Though I take it that their inexperience is self evident?"
"According to what can be heard, they seem to have been arguing a bit over their seamanship, as well as discussing how to go once they land."
"Oh dear, this could be... different."
"I for one am glad," grumbled a bat, "As far as I'm concerned, this is the perfect situation for the lad."
"Really?" queried the owl.
"Yes! He's not one for the usual situations anyway, and he could do with some like him. Besides, what other way is he going to learn if he doesn't get out there? And as odd as he is, it might as well be in the company of similar folk."
"I see..."
"Good."
Sighing heavily, the eagle resisted the urge to comment on the fact that the 'bat' wasn't really that average either. But it was easier to settle on discussing what was happening, which wasn't much at the moment. "So what do we do now?"
"Watch and wait," the owl replied sagely, "Interference at this point might be rather... bad for the situation, and it'll allow him a chance to deal with such things on his own as much as possible."
"Exactly what I said!" the bat put in.
"I know what you said."
"You did? Uhh... Good!"
The owl stifled a chuckle, and prepared to watch while:
