She knew what a human child looked like. She knew this was a human male child of about six years age.
She didn't know why Eilistraee, patron goddess of good drow, had giggled. THAT was sufficiently jarring that she was still dealing with that to some extent.
That wasn't why she'd summoned a few others of her acquaintance.
"Definitely plane-touched," said Sylune, pacing back and forth. That she kept going through a table was not of big concern to those present.
"It's a muddle," said an old mage, eyeing the boy. "Whatever he went through left traceries on him. Good, Evil, Law, Chaos, Fire, Earth, Air, Water, Shadow, and..."
"What to do with him?" asked Qilue. "The Promenade is hardly a place for a human child. They require sunlight and warmth."
"Ye do have a few of yer followers who visit Waterdeep, do ye not?" asked the old mage.
"What about Shadowdale?" asked Qilue. "Sunshine. Other humans."
"Excuse me," said Ranma.
"Didn't you put a sleep spell on him?" asked Khelben of his lady.
"Yes," said Laeral, looking askance at the boy.
"No, I put a word of command: sleep spell on him," said Qilue.
"No it was my sleep spell," argued Storm Silverhand.
The Simbul looked thoughtfully at the boy. "You all did. He just faked them being effective."
All of the various mages looked towards the boy then.
"Where can I get some water?" asked the little boy.
Qilue shrugged, and gestured. "I'll show you. Over here."
"He's not a Chosen Of Mystra, is he?" asked Storm. "We'd know if he was, right? We'd sense the silver fire in him."
"We know that some of the other deities have become interested with the concept," said The Simbul. "Could he be the Chosen of another deity?"
"That might explain that Qilue mentioned Eilistraee thought the boy was amusing," said Dove Falconhand. "Not a Chosen of someone we'd typically find ourselves at crossed swords with."
"Or just crossed purposes," said Elminster, "we can also eliminate some of the less troublesome if it amused Qilue's elfin patron."
"Who?" asked Laeral. None there knew, at least not yet, that it was:
