It was just that at times like these, she rather wished that the writing could do itself.
Leaning back, she stretched her back and shoulders to get the stiffness out of them. Training had been hard, as she'd gotten up in the early hours to join in marching, studied hard during the day, and been instructed in combat techniques in the afternoon. With all that she'd done, getting a good meal, relaxing, and going to sleep seemed to be heaven, but she wasn't about to abandon the only real contact with all of her friends.
Oh, it wasn't the same as talking to them on the phone, although she could do that. Why, she could remember the excitement in Ami's voice as she talked about how well the clinic was doing. At the same time, others weren't able to be contacted that way, since they didn't have phones where they were. This, at least, would allow her to not only have contact with them, but have a physical reminder of them when she'd get their responses.
Of course, that was part of the problem, as she had a lot of letters to respond to. It simply wouldn't be a good idea to make a mistake like responding to Usagi's complaints about Rei's behavior when writing on a letter being sent to the latter girl. Then again, sometimes people asked her to pass on information, which was something that she had no problem in doing, since she was perfectly willing to do things like give word of Natsuki's latest wanderings to Mai. And she rather liked mentioning how the redhead appreciated the Doc's care of her brother to the doctor herself.
Still, she had to do a lot of writing, and was happy to get back to it, hoping that she wouldn't get writer's cramp. There was a letter to Ranma to write, and she didn't want to send him a mess. It took a while to get messages back and forth, and as she considered what she'd put down, she recognized that he was rather far away. But he seemed to be having fun with that 'Shampoo' girl that he was always talking about. Apparently, they both liked to get into the Art, and were having a friendly rivalry going, such that he actually wanted her to meet the Chinese girl.
She knew that might be nice, and planned on adding that to her letter. Yet, as she looked at his last response, she had to admit that she had to wonder about the other people around her friend. Sure, the government had said that he was going to a good place, but it seemed that there was one idiot over there at the very least. This 'Mousse' kid seemed to be cranky over something, but just what that was nothing that neither Ranma, nor her, could identify. All he was doing was running at various inanimate objects, or giving her friend a living training dummy to practice knockout moves on.
Fortunately, it seemed that the latter had rather endeared the pigtailed boy to the Chinese girl, which was probably a good thing.
Putting her pen to paper, Makoto started writing down her desire to see the village of martial artists for herself, while:
