With everything reset to the baseline, there were STILL points where he died regularly in events that would be considered canonic or nearly so to someone reading a manga of his life.
For example there was here - after the Chunin Exams had collapsed. Sound and Sand invaded Leaf, and there were no less than fourteen points where only luck had Naruto survive. In twelve of those cases, an invader had basically gone left instead of right and had therefore not intercepted Naruto or his team. In one other, Gaara had roughly a 50/50 chance of eliminating Naruto before the blonde could bring out his full power. The final cruxpoint for Naruto in that sequence was when he was dealing with his chakra exhaustion and back in Konoha. At least one timeline had him die in the hospital.
Retrieving Tsunade had its own share of points where Naruto's story ended regularly - particularly when he fought Kabuto.
Then there was the fight with Sasuke in the Valley Of The End. Out of ten timelines to feature that, Naruto died in roughly half of those. Others had him win over Sasuke, but since Sasuke had decided to abandon the village - there wasn't much that could be done on the behalf of the Last Uchiha. Eventually Sasuke was broken out of confinement, and Naruto died shortly thereafter.
Naruto took off for two years with Jiraiya and only had two such cruxpoints show up. One was when Jiraiya had tried to get Naruto to control the Kyubi's force, and possibilities gleamed like a faceted diamond there. Here Jiraiya died at the Kyubi's attack. Here Naruto died as the chakra exploded out of him, taking his life force with it. There Naruto simply was locked away in a mad rage until his body burned from the chakra overload. Other possibilities, even more grim and unhappy also beckoned from that point.
The other point on Jiraiya's training journey was deceptively simple. Jiraiya was still wounded and recovering from his near-death ordeal and had chosen to stay in a village with a healer. The other choice he'd faced for a place to recover within was a monastery. The differences were subtle at first, but quickly escalated when a bored Naruto turned his attention to the temple's library.
Of course, it was simply easiest to use a pre-existing cruxpoint than to force one into being.
Finally though Toltiir flipped back and decided to use:
