Setsuna's Fault: Devolving Situation [Episode 89881]

by Kestral

Sailor Pluto gritted her teeth. The Time Gates were not meant to be used in this fashion. Her powers were not meant to operate in this manner. Just to eliminate the changes in the timelines meant actively forcing some things and writing override protocols on the fly.

FLIK!

Sailor Moon and the others were not bulletproof and their defenses were mainly against magical attacks.

Eudial blew across the barrel of her semiautomatic weapon, looking down on the spattered corpses of those who had stood against her.

FLIK!

Usagi Tsukino watched the television, seeing the images of a black crystal tower in Tokyo. She silently gave thanks that she was safe here in Canada, where her family had relocated twenty years ago.

Still, that was where her ancestors had come from - so she found this fascinating even if it couldn't possibly affect her where she was.

FLIK!

Usagi Tsukino flipped backwards, her feet briefly touching the wall to push off and then into a flying kick.

Jedite certainly noticed that, his head whipping backward as the kick connected.

Usagi hit the floor, rolled, and grabbed her katana up.

"A true samurai," said Usagi, bringing her sword up and slashing once, "is a master of the sword but is a warrior foremost. And a warrior is a weapon herself."

Jedite gasped, clawing at the scarlet ribbon leaking from his throat.

"You, who strike from ambush, do not deserve the honor of dying on my sword," said Usagi. SLASH "I am generous, am I not?"

FLIK!

"I can do this, I just need to input the Ancient codes," said Ami, quickly touching symbols on the wall. "THERE!"

The rock of the floor surged up to block off the corridor.

"Okay, that takes care of Jedite's Jaffa," said Makoto, bringing her staff weapon up.

"I keep telling you, they're ZOMBIES," argued Rei. "Jaffa don't get up with parts rotting off!"

"These do," argued Makoto, it somehow sounding like an old argument.

Usagi slapped the wall control, causing the wall to open again - revealing the massed Jaffa.

"USAGI?!" asked the others.

Usagi smiled and her eyes flashed.

FLIK

Setsuna gasped as she wrenched at the controls again.

Dead Senshi littered the corridor.

Slowly out of the shadows, stood a figure in a tuxedo and dark cape, dropping the drained corpse of Sailor Moon. The vampire Mamoru Chiba licked a fleck of blood off his lips.

FLIK!

"ICE DAGGERS!" called out Mercury, sending blades of ice at her opponent.

"LOVE ME CHAIN!" called out Venus, blocking those daggers with her chain weapon.

Usagi looked on imperiously from above as the two Saints duked it out in the ring.

FLIK!

Hotaru, wearing a green uniform with an "SG-X" badge, walked next to Ranma.

Sailor Pluto stared for a moment at this before the utter wrongness of the situation overwhelmed her.

FLIK!

Setsuna stared at the image before her. Nothingness. Everything had been blotted out. A dead world orbitting a burned out sun.

FLIK!

"Sailor Jurai!"

FLIK!

"Cosmic rays are flooding the shuttle," called out Ami Mizuno.

"I told you our shielding wasn't enough," grumped out Rei. "I feel so hot."

"So this is it, we're about to fry, I'll never get to see my boyfriend again," wept Minako.

"You don't have a boyfriend," pointed out Rei.

"THAT'S MY POINT!" yelled back Minako.

Setsuna stared at the Fantastic Five's origin, then quickly changed the channel. Err, timeline.

FLIK!

After watching further and further scenes getting further and further away from her pristine timeline, Sailor Pluto came to a conclusion. Ranma was involved. Remove Ranma and everything else was subject to change.

Controlling the situation, bringing it back to a future with the Sailor Senshi, was her only course. The only factors she had to consider were the increasing instability in the timestream, damage control on how bad it turned out - and even that was trying to have everyone end up alive and relatively unchanged.
